Aftercare
This is the same advice you are given in the salon after nails, lashes, brows or waxing: the first 24 hours, everyday care, and when to come back. If something needs fixing within 3 days and you followed it, the fix is free.
Nails
In the first 24 hours
- Keep your hands out of very hot water, saunas and hot tubs for the rest of the day.
- Do not pick, peel or bite at the edges of the gel.
- Apply cuticle oil before bed.
Ongoing care
- Use cuticle oil daily to keep the skin and nail flexible.
- Wear gloves for washing up and cleaning products.
- Do not use your nails as tools to open cans, packaging or stickers.
- If gel starts to lift, leave it alone and message us instead of peeling it.
How long it lasts
A gel manicure usually lasts two to three weeks. Gel on toes lasts longer because toenails grow more slowly, and nail extensions need attention after around three weeks as your natural nail grows out underneath.
When to come back
Come back about every three weeks for hands; pedicures can usually go a little longer.
When to contact us
- Your gel chips, lifts or peels within 3 days. The fix is free if you followed this advice.
- A nail extension cracks or comes off.
- The skin around a nail feels sore or irritated. Message us, and if it is serious or does not settle, see a doctor or pharmacist.
Nail extensions
For the first few days, take extra care opening doors, cans and packaging while you get used to the new length.
Gel pedicure
Wear open shoes or loose socks for the rest of the day, and avoid tight shoes pressing on the toenails.
Lashes
In the first 24 hours
- Keep your lashes completely dry. No washing, steam, sauna or swimming.
- Do not wear eye makeup.
- Do not rub, touch or pull at your lashes.
- Try to sleep on your back so your lashes are not crushed against the pillow.
Ongoing care
- Brush your lashes gently every morning with a clean lash brush.
- Wash your lashes a few times a week with an oil-free cleanser and let them air-dry.
- Keep oil-based makeup removers, creams and oily sunscreen away from the lash line.
- Do not use a lash curler or mascara on extensions.
- Never pull extensions off yourself; removal should always be done by a technician.
How long it lasts
Lash extensions gradually thin out as your natural lashes shed, and most clients need a fill every two to three weeks. The set lasts towards the longer end of that range with gentle, oil-free care.
When to come back
Book a fill two to three weeks after your full set.
When to contact us
- Your set loses a noticeable number of extensions within 3 days. The fix is free if you followed this advice.
- Your eyes feel irritated or uncomfortable. Message us straight away and come in for a free aftercare consultation.
- If it feels serious or does not settle, see a doctor or pharmacist without waiting for us.
Lash Lift & Tint
Keep your lashes dry and skip mascara for the first 24 hours so the curl and tint can set. After that, you can wear mascara as normal. There is nothing to fill or remove. Book again in about six to eight weeks, once the curl has grown out.
Brows
In the first 24 hours
- Keep your brows dry. No washing, steam, sauna, swimming or heavy sweating.
- Do not apply makeup or skincare products on the brows.
- Do not rub or touch your brows.
Ongoing care
- After lamination, brush your brows up into shape every morning with a clean brow brush.
- A few days after lamination, a nourishing brow oil or serum keeps the hairs soft.
- Keep exfoliating scrubs and strong active skincare away from the brow area.
- Avoid tweezing between appointments so the shape can grow in evenly.
How long it lasts
Brow lamination usually lasts six to eight weeks and fades gradually as the hairs grow and are replaced. Brow tint fades sooner than the lamination, and a shape lasts until the hair around it grows back, usually within a few weeks.
When to come back
Come back every three to five weeks for shaping, and every six to eight weeks for lamination.
When to contact us
- The shape looks uneven or the lamination drops within 3 days. The fix is free if you followed this advice.
- The skin on or around your brows feels irritated. Message us straight away and come in for a free aftercare consultation.
- If it feels serious or does not settle, see a doctor or pharmacist without waiting for us.
Eyebrow Shape & Trim
No special care is needed. You can wear brow makeup the same day.
Eyebrow Shape & Tint
Keep the brows dry for 24 hours so the tint holds. The colour looks a little stronger for the first day or two, then softens.
Waxing
In the first 24 hours
- Avoid hot showers, baths, saunas and steam rooms.
- Stay out of the sun, the sea and swimming pools.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing over the waxed area.
- Skip perfumed lotions and body sprays on the waxed skin, and skip deodorant after underarm waxing.
Ongoing care
- A few days after waxing, exfoliate gently two or three times a week to help prevent ingrown hairs.
- Moisturise the skin daily with a plain, unperfumed lotion.
- Do not shave between waxes, because shaving resets the growth cycle.
How long it lasts
Waxing usually keeps skin smooth for three to five weeks, because the hair is removed from the root. Regrowth comes in gradually rather than all at once.
When to come back
Book your next wax about four to five weeks later, once the hair is long enough to grip again.
When to contact us
- You notice missed patches within 3 days. The touch-up is free if you followed this advice.
- The waxed skin stays irritated beyond the first day. Message us, and if it is serious or does not settle, see a doctor or pharmacist.
Bikini & Underarm Waxing
Wear loose cotton underwear for the rest of the day, and skip deodorant on the underarms until the next morning.
